Competition for Translating Latvian Literature Abroad Concluded

On May 8th, a committee of experts reviewed 19 project applications for translating literary works of Latvian authors abroad for the total amount of 71 981 EUR. The committee voted to grant 50 000 EUR to 16 proposals. Please see the list of the projects supported below.

The committee consisted of five members: literary critic Anda Baklāne, translator and publisher Pēteris Jankavs, translator Dace Meiere, writer and translator Vilis Kasims, and executive manager of the "Latvian Literature" platform Inga Bodnarjuka-Mrazauskas.

This grant contest is financed by the State Culture Capital Foundation and The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia and supports projects in different languages.

The next competition will be announced on August 1st, 2019.
