This year, along with literary agents and publishers, the young author Uldis Daugaviņš and artist Māra Viška will be representing Latvia at the international Leipzig Book Fair. In collaboration with the famous chef Mārtiņš Sirmais, they have created a fairytale cookbook for children titled “The White Bear” (“Baltais lācis”, published by “Liels un mazs”). The authors and the translator, Britta Ringer, will be reading excerpts  from the book both in the fair and elsewhere in the city.

Books by authors represented at the fair, selected works of literature for adults and children, works by the Latvian recipients of the European Union Prize for Literature, as well as translations of Latvian authors into German and other languages will be displayed at the Latvian publishing and literature stand  designed by Jānis Mercs.
