Terēze Svilane has always been fascinated by words, language and literature, though her first degree was in music. She then completed a Bachelor of Arts at London University and went on to gain a Master's in Translation and Terminology at Ventspils Augstskola (2008).
The author of Complete Latvian (as part of the Hodder and Stoughton Teach Yourself series, published in 2009 and reprinted 2010), she has over 20 years of experience in translation, working with a great variety of texts, mainly non-fiction: books and scholarly articles on art and artists, exhibition catalogues, conference papers, legal texts and documents, press releases etc.
More recently she has moved towards literary translation and in 2015 she attended the Translation Summer School at University of East Anglia.
