Born in Latvia, Ieva has spent half of her life in the UK, where she graduated from Bath Spa University after completing a First Class BA (Hons) degree in Creative Writing and English Literature, followed by an MA in Creative Writing. She has been working freelance as a writer and translator since 2015. Now a member of the UK's Society of Authors and Translators Association, her portfolio of translated works includes plays by Lauris Gundars, Ance Muižniece and Justīne Kļava. She has also translated poetry and prose for the Latvian publishing house Pētergailis, whom she represented at the London Book Fair in 2018 and 2019. Ieva has participated in the BLCT Creative Writing and Translations summer school at the University of East Anglia with a generous bursary from Latvian Literature. Currently based in London, Ieva is particularly interested in deepening the connections between Latvian and British theatres through her role as a translator. She is currently taking part in Theatre Translators Mentorship with Foreign Affairs, an east London-based theatre company that focuses on translation and international cultural exchange and collaboration.
