Yan Lu is a Latvian language lecturer at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) in China. In 2013, a short trip in Riga aroused her interest to learn Latvian language and culture. The new initiated program - Latvian Language Program at BFSU provided her opportunity to do further study at University of Latvia and to go deeper into Latvian language, culture, as well as literature. Since 2017, within the framework of research project on foreign literature at BFSU, she has published 4 papers, which are aimed to introduce Latvian literature to Chinese audience. In 2019, cooperating with Latvian author Zane Zusta and Chinese publishing house "DOFPHIN BOOKS", she published her first translation in Latvian literature - Ucipuci meklē mājas (小猫头鹰走失记).
