Anna Sedláčková (1998) is a translator, linguist in training and an avid reader.
She graduated from Baltic philology at the Charles University in Prague and is soon to graduate from the University of Helsinki where she currently studies general linguistics.
When she is not trying to convince Czech publishers that they should publish Latvian literature, together with her friend, a Czech poet Alžběta Stančáková, she co-runs a website Kalba.eu where they jointly publish articles on less represented topics and translations from various languages (Serbian, Estonian or Latvian, to name just a few).
So far, she has been so successful in persuading the publishers that Czech readers have seen a translation of the cult novel “Mātes piens” by Nora Ikstena and can look forward to an anthology of modern Latvian texts that will be published in 2024.
