Biography
Andreas Jäkel (b.1987) grew up in the countryside near Mainz, Germany. He has always been fascinated by foreign languages and attracted to the forests and lakes around the Baltic Sea. He studied Finnish, Baltic Philology and Scandinavian Studies, graduating with an MA from the University of Greifswald in 2016. In addition to having spent time during his studies in Latvia, Finland and Lithuania, he has attended a FILI and CIMO course for beginning translators in Helsinki. His published translations include Latvian authors Inga Ābele and Agnese Rutkēviča and Lithuanian author Jaroslavas Melnikas in Neue Nordische Novellen IV and Neue Nordische Novellen V.
