Elīna Kokareviča (1986) – writer, poet, book editor, translator, human rights activist. Elīna has studied literature at the University of Latvia, paying attention to the poetics of the exile author Juris Kronbergs' poetry. Alongside well-known literary critic Jūlija Dibovska, she founded and led the student online literary criticism magazine Ubi Sunt till 2016. Concurrently, she started working in the non-governmental sector, operating in such organizations as Latvian Ornithological Society and Language Museum Association. She has worked as a book publisher at the House of Languages. Since 2024, Elīna has been a board member at PEN Latvia, and since 2025, she is a project manager at NGO I Want to Help Refugees. In 2021, she published her first collection of short stories, Spectres ("Rēgi"). It was praised for its language use and meditative atmosphere, as well as for the social significance of its core theme: women's identity and sexuality. At the end of 2024, the second collection of short stories, Flora and Fauna ("Flora un fauna"), was published. It is a collection of modern fairy tales emphasizing historically overlooked characters in connection to elements of nature. Both collections have been nominated for the book design contest Golden Apple-tree ("Zelta ābele") and longlisted for the Annual Latvian Literature Prize.
